UMC EverKids Program

The UMC EverKids are the members of the UMC Evergreen community who are in Preschool-Fifth Grade.  These young members of our church family are an extremely important part of the life of our church—both present and future. Therefore we strive to  provide programs that fit their needs. In the UMC EverKids program we learn a lot and have a lot of fun. During the school year we meet on Sunday mornings at 9:30 on Zoom and at the 10:30 Worship Service. Nursery Care is provided at 10:30 for our infant– 2 year old EverKids.

Action Pack 9:30 on ZOOM

This Fall our EverKids Sunday School theme is Camping in the Kingdom, from Echo Imprint Curriculum. We will go on a weekly wilderness adventure as we learn all that God has to teach us. Echo Imprint's 3-in-1 curriculum teaches in a traditional, fully online, and hybrid learning model, so that students can learn at church, learn

remotely, or mix the two styles as needed.

Sunday School 10:30

Our Children’s Church program provides the UMC EverKids with a formal Sunday School curriculum. Children begin the 10:30 service in the sanctuary with their families and then participate in the Children’s Moment with the congregation. After that, the EverKids head downstairs to study age-appropriate materials in their classrooms. This Fall our EverKids Sunday School theme is Camping in the Kingdom, from Echo Imprint Curriculum. We will go on a weekly wilderness adventure as we learn all that God has to teach us. Echo Imprint's 3-in-1 curriculum teaches in a traditional, fully online, and hybrid learning model, so that students can learn at church, learn remotely, or mix the two styles as needed.

Wednesday Afternoon

The UMC EverKids Book Club consists of a readaloud chapter, a craft and a game each week. We meet from 4-5PM on Wednesday afternoons. We offer in-person meetings and a live stream, online participation via Zoom. Recorded sessions will also be available upon request in an online video format. We will be reading and talking about C.S. Lewis' classic children's series The Chronicles of Narnia, beginning with the first book to be published in the series: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Readers and non-readers are welcome. This club is intended for children in Preschool through 5th Grade. Purchase of a copy of the books is recommended but not required.

Special Events

The UMC EverKids Program has lots of fun-filled special events year round! We host a Spontaneous Christmas Pageant on Christmas Eve, an Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday, an annual Fall Festival, a Trunk or Treat celebration near Halloween, Vacation Bible School in the summer, and on-going mission projects throughout the year.

Nursery Care

Nursery Care is offered in the nursery downstairs during the 10:30 service. You can sit and enjoy your time communing with God in our sanctuary knowing that your children will be safe and sound, playing with our qualified and experienced nursery staff.

Youth Group

Sunday Afternoon Youth Group

The UMCE Youth Group is a program specifically designed for young people in grades 6-12.  The program fosters close friendships in Christ and encourages young people to explore their spirituality in a safe, open environment.

Sunday Afternoon Youth Group is the flagship program of the UMCE Youth Group.  All youth in Middle and High School eat lunch together and have fellowship from noon-3:00 pm.  We have a great time, play games, complete devotionals, and learn a lot together.

Youth Summer Missions

One of the most important parts of our UMCE Youth Program is youth missions. Every summer the UMCE Youth Group conducts a week long missions trip. We participate in local, domestic, and international missions. In recent years we have conducted service projects in Denver, Portland, Oregon, Evergreen, Chugiak, Alaska, Alamosa, Colorado, Spokane, Washington, and many more places! We have worked with Native American tribes, animal rescue organizations, homeless shelters, programs for victims of domestic abuse, and many other types of work. Who knows where God will send us next?

Special Events

The UMCE Youth Group is a vital part of the life of UMC Evergreen. While we have many programs designed specifically for our youth, we also participate in a number of church-wide activities. Our youth decorate the church for Christmas and serve the all-church Christmas Dinner. They serve as support staff for Vacation Bible School. They conduct all-church car washes during service, provide soup suppers and breakfast burritos, assist with the annual EverKids Easter Egg Hunt, work as part of the Fall Festival, participate in the Alternative Giving Fair, and much more. We have movie nights, overnight lock-ins, and special outings in the community too!

Learn more about UMCE Youth Group! The UMCE Youth Group is always looking for young people to join us! Every Fall we host our 6th Grade Invitational, when we welcome all incoming 6th Graders to the group officially. However, youth in 6th-12th Grade are welcome to join us at any time. If you or someone you know would like to come check out the UMCE Youth Group, contact Sarah Sailor, Director of Education for Children and Youth using our contact us form or calling the church office.

Youth Mission Fundraiser: Upcycled T-Shirt Totes

Our reusable, washable t-shirt totes are made from an upcycled t-shirt, donated to Evergreen Mission Upcycling. According to the Huffington Post, “The EPA estimates that the average American throws away about 70 pounds of clothes a year, most of which are destined to rot away in landfills. Why toss a shirt into the trash where it will waste away in a landfill when you could give it new life instead?” T-shirt upcycling gives new life to cotton t-shirts, and saves an incredible amount of energy and resources. The youth of the United Methodist Church of Evergreen are working to make the world a little safer, beautiful, and all around better. But we aren’t done yet! All proceeds from the sale of totes goes directly toward our Youth Mission Fund, to help fund our annual mission trip service work. Thank you!
